In the Watts neighborhood of southern Los Angeles, it was clear this tiny puppy hadn’t been born “perfect.” She had a minor, correctable birth defect, but perhaps fixing it would cut into the profits for a backyard breeder who had planned to sell her online or on the streets. And so, instead of taking her to a vet or even a shelter, this heartless breeder abandoned her. She was left crying in a shopping cart in the late evening, just as the store was closing.
Luckily, a Good Samaritan named Rossie discovered her. Concerned and determined to help, Rossie reached out to Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29. She brought food for the puppy and waited until Suzette arrived. It was a narrow escape; without intervention, this defenseless little pup might have ended up in harm’s way, facing potential predators or people who would do her no good.
Was she not “perfect” enough for you?
Dumped in a shopping cart.
Just a little, scared puppy.
But she’s perfect to us, and we’ll give her everything she needs.
Suzette has been in close contact with a veterinarian to monitor the puppy’s hernia. If the open wound worsens, Suzette will rush her to the emergency room, and she’s already set for a check-up on Monday morning. Updates will follow.
The puppy, now named Love, may actually be part of a litter currently at the Carson Animal Care Center. These puppies were found around the same time nearby, on South Main Street in Gardena, and are thought to be about three months old. For Love, this discovery might be her chance at a happy ending.
