Earlier this month, volunteer Arturo Flores from Logan’s Legacy 29 received a call that shattered his heart. A desperate voice reported a black-and-white dog hidden in the bushes, too weak to move, her soft cries echoing through the neighborhood like a silent plea for help.

Without hesitation, Flores raced to the scene. What he found was exactly as described — and somehow even more heartbreaking. There, amidst piles of trash and tangled foliage, lay a fragile dog on her side, whimpering in pain, too broken to lift her head.

“She had been lying there for days, crying out for someone — anyone — to help her,” shared Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29.

But no one had come.

Until now.

Flores refused to leave her behind. With gentle hands and a determined heart, he scooped the trembling pup into his arms and carried her to safety, vowing she would never feel abandoned again. They rushed to Camino Pet Hospital, where a team of vets immediately took over her care.

It didn’t take long for the heartbreaking cause of her suffering to emerge: Tillie, as she was lovingly named, had a broken pelvis. The thought that she had endured such agony alone, unable to walk or even sit up for days, brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

But amidst the sadness, there was hope.

“She just needs rest, gentle potty breaks, and endless love,” Hall shared with the community.

And so began Tillie’s healing journey.

Safe in the warmth of the clinic, surrounded by people who truly cared, Tillie’s transformation slowly began. Pain medications soothed her shattered body, and kind words wrapped around her like a healing balm. As the days passed, the difference in her was undeniable — Tillie’s bright eyes returned, and even through the pain, she started to smile again.

There are still uncertainties — her medical team continues to assess whether surgery will be needed to repair her pelvis — but what’s certain is this: Tillie’s spirit is unbreakable.

“She looks up at Dr. K with so much gratitude, knowing for the first time in her life, she’s not invisible anymore,” Hall wrote, her heart full.

While Tillie continues to heal, her rescue family is searching for the perfect foster home — a place where she can continue regaining her strength, surrounded by warmth and care.
