SWITZERLAND - A Border Terrier named Lucky managed to escape from his kennel and traveled over 160 kilometers to find his owner.
According to RTS television, Lucky's owner, Jennifer Wagner, had locked him in a kennel in Bern, Switzerland, while she went on vacation in Germany. On the night of July 31, Lucky escaped, and by the morning of August 1, he was spotted in Geneva—over 160 kilometers away.
"There was a hole in the kennel, so he managed to get out," Wagner explained.
On the morning of August 1, Lucky was found near Lake Geneva, looking quite exhausted. A local resident discovered him and alerted the authorities.
Dayfr reports that Lucky was microchipped, allowing the police to quickly locate his owner and confirm that the dog had traveled "163 kilometers in just one night."
"I feel lucky that Lucky is safe and sound, and he wasn't hurt. We were extremely scared," Wagner recounted. She speculated that someone may have found Lucky and driven him to Geneva.
"I never thought he could run that entire distance. It's 160 kilometers! Covering such a long distance in such a short time seems impossible for him," Wagner shared.
