How Travolta Found Love and a Forever Home

Just two months ago, Travolta was clinging to life, barely recognizable, and now, he's thriving, sporting matching sweaters with his adoptive mom. His story began when he was found in a heart-wrenching state by an Uber driver, lying on the side of a Kentucky road, emaciated and on the brink of death. Malnourished, covered in dirt, and infested with maggots, he was rushed to Jefferson Animal Hospital. The veterinary staff, witnessing the dog's remarkable will to survive, immediately thought of the perfect name for him: Travolta, after the tough, resilient movie star.

Dr. Emily Bewley, a veterinarian who happened to be working that day, became Travolta’s savior. The dog had lost nearly all muscle mass, weighed only 14 pounds (half of what he should have), and was barely able to lift his head. "He was likely only a couple of days away from death," Bewley recalled. Despite his grave condition, Travolta had the spirit to keep going, just as the vet team had the determination to give him a second chance.

Under Dr. Bewley's care, Travolta slowly started to regain his strength. His fur was cleaned, his infections treated, and an IV drip helped him hydrate and recover. As he took his first sips of water and small bites of food, hope returned. That night, Bewley took him home, intending it to be temporary—but Travolta had other plans.

Day by day, his quirky personality began to shine. From making Ewok-like noises to loving cuddles, he bonded with Bewley's three children and other pets. Soon, it became clear that no foster family would be good enough for him. Bewley’s heart was already set, and on Valentine's Day, she officially adopted him.

Now, Travolta is enjoying his new life, running around with his new siblings—both human and animal—while proudly wearing his custom-made sweaters, just like his new mom. His transformation is nothing short of miraculous, and it serves as a reminder of the incredible impact one person’s kindness can have.

“His story shows that stepping in to help, even when you don’t know the outcome, can lead to miracles,” Bewley said. “That Uber driver saved his life by taking action, and now Travolta has the loving home he deserves.”
