For seven long months, Lancer, the sweetest pup at City of Mobile Animal Services, waited patiently in his kennel, hoping for someone to notice him. Despite his gentle nature and yearning for love, not a single person requested to meet him. Determined to find a family, Lancer decided to take matters into his own paws.
“Whenever someone would walk by, he’d reach his paw through the bars, hoping someone would hold it,” Mary Kate Hale, digital media manager for City of Mobile Animal Services, shared with Loveanimalsclub.blogspot.com. Lancer would press his body against the front of his kennel, stretching out his paw as far as it could go, longing for just a moment of affection. Despite his efforts, days passed, and no one seemed to understand why this loving dog hadn’t been adopted yet.
Known for his sweet nature and love of peanut butter, Lancer had a reputation for charming everyone who spent time with him. “After a bout of zoomies, he’d stretch out in the shade, legs splayed like a frog’s, completely content,” Hale added.
One fateful day, a passing volunteer couldn’t resist Lancer’s signature paw move. They snapped a photo of him looking absolutely adorable and shared it on social media, along with a heartfelt message about his sweet personality. What happened next changed everything.
“Within 24 hours of the Facebook post, Lancer caught the eye of his future dad, Nick,” Hale recalled. Nick saw the photo and instantly knew that Lancer was the one. He saw past the bars and into Lancer’s heart, recognizing a dog who just wanted to love and be loved.
Today, Lancer is living his best life in his forever home. And every time he reaches out his paw, his dad is always there, ready to hold it. The once-overlooked pup finally found the love he had been waiting for, and now, his days are filled with joy, cuddles, and plenty of peanut butter.
