On July 24, ten tiny puppies were cruelly discarded from a car near the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center in California. They were tossed into the bushes bordering a wilderness area, leaving them vulnerable to predators like coyotes.

A volunteer dog walker, who discovered the puppies in a vinyl pool, was alerted by the soft whimpers of the tiny creatures. She immediately brought them to the shelter, where they received urgent medical care and were placed in foster homes.

The puppies, named after dessert flavors by the shelter staff, are Chip, Caramel, Mint, Maple, Chocolate, Cookie Dough, Butterscotch, Cookies n Cream, Ripple, and Coffee.

In a heartwarming update from August 8, the mother of the puppies, named Holly, was found and reunited with her little ones. The puppies are believed to be a mix of Australian Shepherd and Labrador Retriever.

Surveillance footage revealed a man throwing the puppies from his car. He has been identified, and charges are pending with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The motive behind his actions remains unknown.

The puppies will be ready for adoption once they are old enough.
