In Wells, Maine, a heartwarming moment unfolded when a firefighter came to the rescue of a husky stranded on a rooftop. The incident, which occurred in 2018, showcased the unbreakable bond between humans and their loyal canine companions.

The husky had somehow found himself chained to the roof of his home, unable to move or respond to his owners’ desperate calls for help. When the situation proved too challenging to resolve on their own, the Wells Fire Department was called in to assist.

Captain Jeff Nawfel led the rescue effort, tasked with calming the frightened dog and earning his trust. Scaling the roof carefully, he approached the husky, soothing the animal with a calm demeanor until the pup felt safe enough to be held.

With the dog securely in his arms, Captain Nawfel carried him back inside the house through a window. But before the firefighter could finish the job, the grateful husky paused to give him a sweet kiss on the cheek — a heartfelt thank-you for the rescue.

The Wells Police Department later shared a video of the touching rescue on their Facebook page, thanking Captain Nawfel and Officer Steve McDonald, who filmed the event. "Thank you to everyone who got in touch and helped in his rescue," the department wrote, adding a special shoutout to Captain Nawfel for saving the pup from a potentially dangerous situation.

This small act of bravery and kindness is a beautiful reminder of the love and trust that can exist between humans and animals. That husky’s kiss said it all — a simple but powerful expression of gratitude.
