Meet Olivia, a brave dog whose heartbreaking journey from neglect to recovery is a testament to resilience and the kindness of strangers. On October 7, 2022, a report came in to the Dumaguete Animal Reserve about a dog lying in a creek, too weak and emaciated to move. She had been heartlessly abandoned after giving birth, left to suffer in isolation.
When the rescue team arrived, they were horrified by Olivia’s condition. She was extremely thin, unable to walk, and barely clinging to life. It was clear she had recently given birth, but her puppies were nowhere to be found. She was in desperate need of immediate care. The rescue team rushed her to safety, where it was discovered that Olivia was not only malnourished, but also suffering from heartworms, low platelet count, and low red blood cell levels.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, Olivia's spirit remained strong. She was placed under strict isolation for 14 days to ensure she was free of rabies, and began receiving the medical treatment she desperately needed. Her story touched the hearts of many, and with each passing day, Olivia's health improved, thanks to the dedication of those who cared for her.
