Last month, dog rescuer Suzette Hall received an urgent message from a Good Samaritan in Los Angeles, California. A small black-and-white dog had been found on the roadside, seemingly injured after being hit by a car. The pup was alert but unable to move, and time was critical.
Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, immediate
ly rushed to the scene. When she arrived, she found the poor dog struggling to move. Hall acted quickly, scooping the pup into her arms and heading straight to a veterinary clinic. On the way, she named the sweet girl Inky and began to feel a deep connection with her.
“She was in shock,” Hall later shared on Facebook. “Rescue is hard—it’s sad and scary, but I have to be their voice.”
News of Inky’s rescue spread quickly, and within 24 hours, her dad had been located. Overwhelmed with relief, he rushed to the clinic, where he found his beloved dog—whose real name was Tulum—in critical condition.
“She is all her owner has in the whole world,” Hall wrote. “He and I cried together and hugged. My heart couldn’t be more broken seeing his broken heart.”
While Tulum’s dad was overjoyed to reunite with her, he was devastated by the reality of her injuries. At the time, Tulum was paralyzed from the neck down and required expensive testing and surgery to have any chance of recovery. Her dad, unable to afford the medical bills, felt helpless.
That’s when Hall stepped in. She launched a fundraiser, rallying support from her followers to cover Tulum’s medical expenses. Thanks to their generosity, enough money was raised to proceed with the necessary treatments.
As soon as Tulum saw her dad, her spirits lifted. “Her little eyes looking up at her daddy was all it took to see hope in her eyes,” Hall wrote.
On November 6, 2024, Tulum underwent surgery to repair her injuries. The procedure was a success, and with ongoing physical therapy and laser treatment, she slowly began to regain movement. Hall and Tulum’s care team watched in amazement as the resilient pup responded to her treatments.
“Sweet baby girl is responding so well to her therapy,” Hall shared. “She is even showing signs of feeling in her back legs. I truly believe in a Christmas miracle.”
After weeks of recovery, Tulum was finally strong enough to go home. When her dad arrived to pick her up, Tulum’s joy was unmistakable. She couldn’t contain her excitement as she leapt into his arms.
“She couldn’t get back to him fast enough,” Hall wrote. “Tulum and her daddy are back together.”
As Tulum and her dad walked out of the clinic, arm in arm, they were filled with gratitude and hope for the future. Hall, moved by their reunion, reflected on the journey.
“She is a miracle,” Hall wrote. “I literally can’t stop crying.”
Tulum’s story is a testament to the power of love, resilience, and community. Against all odds, she found her way back to the person who loves her most, proving that miracles do happen.
