The dog, disregarding danger, cleverly called for help to rescue its owner who had been lost in the desert for several days.

Gregorio Romero, 84, who lives in Sonora, Mexico, owes a great debt to his beloved dog, El Palomo. The smart dog led rescuers to save its owner who had been lost in the desert for days.

The 84-year-old man had set out for a walk as he usually did, but this time he didn’t return. Initially, his family wasn’t too concerned because he sometimes went to visit relatives or friends in a nearby village and would stay away for a few days before coming back.

However, on this trip, the family waited four days with no sign of him. His granddaughter, Ramona, reported him missing to local authorities and asked the rescue team for help.

They searched the area around Gregorio Romero’s home but found no trace of him. City police, the city’s security force, and search dogs were all involved in the rescue team. After three days of searching, no one had found any sign of him.

A week after he had gone missing, the family’s dog discovered a crucial clue. El Palomo, in search of his owner, traveled a long, difficult path and fortunately found Romero stuck in the desert.

After discovering him, El Palomo called the rescue team and led them through hills and canyons to where Romero was trapped. Gregorio Romero was weak, dehydrated, and was immediately taken to the hospital for emergency care. He was fortunate to survive without serious injuries, and after two days, he was able to stand again.

During his time in the hospital, El Palomo remained by his side, waiting day and night until his owner regained consciousness.

"The bond between the man and his dog helped the rescue team find him and bring him back to his family," a police spokesperson said.

After a few days in the hospital, Romero returned home, sitting outside in the sun, always accompanied by his loyal dog. El Palomo remains by his side, protecting him.
