In Derby, Vermont, a dog who became an internet sensation for his unusual predicament was finally rescued on Sunday. Known affectionately as Buckethead, or Bucky, the pup had been wandering around with a plastic bucket firmly stuck on his head for over a week.

The situation was dire, as Bucky struggled to eat or drink with the bucket obstructing his access. Derby Animal Control Officer Renee Falconer revealed that the bucket, which had originally been part of an automatic animal feeder, had a small hole in the bottom. This minor feature allowed Bucky limited access to water and some food.

Rescuers faced a race against time to save Bucky, who was eventually lured into a trap with his favorite treat: McDonald’s chicken nuggets. According to MyChamplainValleyNews, Dr. Hunter, the veterinarian at Newport Center, sedated Bucky and swiftly removed the bucket.

When Bucky came to, his anxiety melted away. He immediately sought comfort, climbing into Falconer’s lap and curling up for a much-needed nap.
