Scout’s remarkable journey began when he repeatedly snuck out of the shelter in the dead of night, crossing fences and highways to reach the nursing home across the street. Each time he arrived at MBMCF, he was greeted by the residents who welcomed him with open arms. The staff initially returned Scout to the shelter, but his persistent visits and obvious joy at the nursing home convinced them that he had found his true calling.
A New Home for Scout
Recognizing the unique bond Scout had with the elderly residents, the staff at MBMCF decided to make him a permanent part of their family. Jennifer Martinek from MBMCF shared, “When Scout continued to show up here, we thought maybe it was meant to be.” Clinical care coordinator Stephanie Elsey added, “We’ve welcomed him to be a part of our family. This is where he belongs. He chose us.”
